Here is the truth about my journey -
My UGC videos sucked ...
That’s not the embarrassing part though. The embarrassing part is that for the first 6 to 12 months, I genuinely thought they were good.
Every time I delivered a video to a brand, I remember thinking, “Wow, this is solid.”
Fast forward five years, and when I look back at that content now? I cringe. Those videos were objectively awful.
Not because I wasn’t capable.
Because I didn’t have anyone to tell me the truth.
When I started in UGC, the industry was brand new. There were no communities. No courses. No clear resources. And when I began working with brands outside of platforms, I had no idea how to negotiate, read contracts, understand usage rights, or create content that actually performed.
Everything was trial and error. Over and over again.
At the same time, I was working full-time, raising two kids, and running another business. I didn’t have unlimited hours to “figure it out.” Because of that, my growth was slow. Painfully slow. It took me 22 months to hit my first $10K month with UGC.
Looking back, I don’t regret starting....But I do regret how long I spent doing it alone.
It Doesn’t Have to Be That Way for You...
